Friends of Herring Run Parks is pleased to announce that a partnership with Civic Works, Department of Recreation and Parks, Mountain Club of Maryland, and Student Conservation Association(SCA) has resulted in funding to improve a badly eroded trail near the Fox Den area of Herring Run Park.
This trail work is timely and important as hikers and nearby residents will need to use this trail more often when the Harford Road Bridge Project begins in 2015. This newly restored trail will enable park visitors to access Chesterfield Avenue without getting too close to the heavy construction.
If you are in the park and encounter several hard working high school and college students, please thank them for all their efforts. It’s dirty, hot, and hard work digging and placing check dams and installing cribbing — all new terms for us, but ones we’ll be using a lot this summer!
